Ex-Barcelona star joins Inter Miami to reignite lethal partnership with Lionel Messi after Sergio Busquets signing

Lionel Messi will have another reunion with a Barcelona player, Jordi Alba, who also confirmed to join Inter Miami after Sergio Busquets.

After snubbing a return to Barcelona and a lucrative contract with Saudi club Al Hilal, Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami on a free transfer. The move is widely considered by many to be the best-ever transfer to the league, one that is certain to boost the revenue and popularity of the MLS to new heights.

And already we can see the effects of Messi’s historic move. The Miami-based team has already attracted two more of Messi’s former teammates. And they could further strengthen the squad with more firepower.

Clearly, the club is using Messi’s recent move to the club to bring all these former teammates of his. Messi will definitely be happy being surrounded by so many of his former teammates again.

Yesterday, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the signing of left-back Jordi Alba on a free transfer. The Spaniard had one year on his contract with Barcelona, but both sides agreed to terminate it to allow Alba to leave for free.

Alba shared the dressing room with Messi from 2012 to 2021. The two were prolific on the pitch, with Alba often cutting back on the left side to feed Messi with the ball. Together they caused havoc for the opposition teams. In real life, the two are great friends and regularly meet up for dinners.

Alba will sign his documents today after which he will be officially presented as an Inter Miami player.

Busquets joins Messi as a free agent

Aside from Jordi Alba, former captain of Barcelona, Sergio Busquets had already joined the club. The midfielder also left Barcelona on a free as his contract there expired. He was offered an extension but refused and joined Inter Miami after Lionel Messi had.

He was presented on Tuesday in front of a packed stadium with Lionel Messi. The 34-year-old was also seen yesterday training with the team alongside Messi.

Like Alba, Busquets is also great friends with Messi and regularly are seen together with their families. The duo were also terrific during their time at Barca and could recreate that partnership at Inter Miami.

The David Beckham-owned club however will not stop there. The club also reportedly has plans to bring in Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta, both former teammates of Messi at Barcelona.

Inter Miami looks to be building a dangerous team, and the MLS is simply not ready for this new era.
