The Denver Broncos are wasting no time in NFL free agency as they make a defensive statement with Zach Allen signing.
After beginning the day by signing offensive linemen Ben Powers and Mike McGlinchey, they turned their attention to bolstering their defense by signing former Cardinals defensive end Zach Allen. The 25-year-old agreed to a three-year deal worth $45.75 million, with $32.5 million guaranteed.

Allen spent four seasons with the Cardinals, all under the guidance of defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. In Denver, Allen will reunite with Joseph, now the Broncos’ defensive coordinator. The reunion should benefit both parties, as Allen is a talented player with a lot of potentials, and Joseph knows how to get the best out of him.
How are Broncos faring in the free agency market?
The Broncos’ focus on both sides of the ball is evident in their free-agency signings. With Powers and McGlinchey addressing their offensive line needs, they are now focusing on building their defensive front. Allen’s signing clearly indicates that the Broncos are going all-in on this strategy. He will be counted on to fill the void left by Dre’Mont Jones, who is departing for the Seattle Seahawks.
Will Zach Allen be able to live up to the expectations?
Despite not putting up eye-popping numbers, Allen is widely regarded as one of the top free agents in this year’s class. He was ranked eighth on Gregg Rosenthal’s top 101 list. Allen has shown steady improvement in his four years with the Cardinals, culminating in a career-high 5.5 sacks in 2022. At 25 years old, he is just entering his prime and should continue to improve in Denver.
The Broncos’ free agency strategy is clear: build up front on both sides of the ball. With the signings of Powers, McGlinchey, and now Allen, they are well on their way to achieving that goal. Allen’s reunion with Joseph should only help his development, and he has the potential to become a star in Denver. It’s an exciting time to be a Broncos fan.
