Rajon Rondo, a 16-year NBA veteran who played for clubs like the Mavericks and the Celtics, has lately been involved in legal issues. He admitted to having a gun in Los Angeles County Superior Court. He received a two-day credit for time served and was sentenced to 180 days of probation.
While driving a black 2022 Tesla on Indiana’s Interstate 65 on Jan 28, the 37-year-old was pulled over for reckless driving. During the stop, police detected marijuana and discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm in his possession.
According to the police, Rondo is “prohibited from possessing the firearm due to him having a protection order in place against him.” He was arrested for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm, but the drug charges were dropped.
Rondo was sentenced to six months in Jackson County Jail and fined $189 for court fees. However, he was freed immediately due to the two days already served and his probation.
Rajon Rondo could join JJ Redick’s coaching staff with the Lakers
Following their unsuccessful attempt to recruit Dan Hurley, a star player for UConn, the Los Angeles Lakers have appointed ESPN’s JJ Redick as head coach. Redick is known for being a talented shooter, but he is now teaching for the first time, which makes things less clear.
Reports say he wants to sign Rajon Rondo, who played for the Lakers several times and helped them win a title in 2020. The Los Angeles Times’ Dan Woike has verified rumors that Rondo is in the running for a role.
The reports claimed, “Rumors of the Lakers’ staffing plans have run throughout the league during the past two weeks….Ex-Lakers guard Rajon Rondo has also been under consideration, according to people with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly.”
