Ex-Tom Brady Bucs’ teammate LB Devin White focuses on proving his worth in 2023 NFL season: “I’m coming back for everything”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans have something to smile about as the team’s star linebacker Devin White recently shared an encouraging post on his Instagram account following the incidents he has been dealing with over the last several days.

Devin will be heading to his fifth-year option on his rookie deal in Tampa Bay this fall and is expected to hit free agency in 2024, albeit the 25-year-old is demanding the security of a long-term contract as well as the maximum level of salary at his position that the team might not be interested in.

The Bucs’ LB Devin White shared an inspirational post amid ‘Champagne problems’

The Bucs LB Devin White shared a motivating quote about bouncing back on the field and learning from his mistakes and experience to prove worth to the franchise on his Instagram story.

The quote says, “My story is simple: I fell, I got back up, I learned from my experience, and now I’m coming back for everything they said I wouldn’t have.”

The three-time team captain is set to earn $11.7 million this year, however, he seems to be unhappy with the amount and has refused to show up for the franchise’s voluntary proportions in the hope to improve his contract situation.

The Bucs’ passing game coordinator and inside linebackers coach Larry Foote addressed his issues as “champagne problems” following a question about the linebacker’s unhappiness with his contract situation.

“Well, he’s not going to be the first and he’s not going to be the last, we know that. Like I told him, he’s getting paid 11 million this year [and] those are champagne problems. I get it on both sides”, Larry said.

The issue of White being unhappy with his team first surfaced at the beginning of March when he made a series of cryptic posts on his Instagram story indicating his last games with the Buccaneers.

The first post featured a photo of Devin putting on cleats in the Bucs locker room, captioned by “Thank ya,” alongside a pirate flag and peace emojis. The next included an action shot of the Pro Bowl inside LB playing during a game with the caption, “4 year went by fast.”

In the last story, he posted a photo of a white sign saying, “God isn’t asking you to figure it out. He’s asking you to trust he already has.” with the caption, “Next Stop,” along with a checkered flag emoji.

The Bucs LB backed down with a tweet citing a hope to bounce back with a strong play “Next year we gone rock out even harder”, however, it was revealed later that he was actually dissatisfied in Tampa Bay and asked for a trade, albeit the team didn’t have the plan to trade their veteran player.

Putting the past aside, White‘s recent inspirational message is sure to resonate with Buccaneers fans and they can look forward to seeing their favorite LB with the rest of the team on the field this fall, as they continue their quest for another Super Bowl ring.
