Conor McGregor has been out of action for more than two years now. However, being out of action does not mean he is inactive on social media. The Irishman recently criticized Jorge Masvidal for apparently calling out Gaethje for a “BMF” title shot.
McGregor last fought at UFC 264 in a trilogy fight with Poirier. Gaethje, in his most recent bout, defeated Poirier via head kick KO in the second round of the UFC 290 main event. Masvidal has retired since his defeat to Gilbert Burns at UFC 285.

McGregor is furious at Masvidal for calling out Justin Gaethje. The interesting thing is that “The Highlight” vehemently opposes any interest in fighting the Irishman or Masvidal. Gaethje is presumed to take on the winner of the bout between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev.

Masvidal was the first person to hold the “BMF” belt by beating Nate Diaz at UFC 244. “Gamebred”, a former lightweight, competed in the welterweight division towards the end of his career. McGregor posting on X, expressed his thoughts saying, ‘The most un-bmf shout ever. He fights at 155. lol. Bitch. Get into that sauna, bitch.’
Mystic Mac is presumed to fight Michael Chandler in early 2024. The Irishman has called out a plethora of contenders from featherweight to middleweight. He has also criticized Alexander Volkanovski, whom he feels is undeserving of the pound-for-pound number one position.
Justin Gaethje rejects bout with Masvidal
Gaethje and Masvidal are the only two fighters in the UFC to have held the “BMF” belt. Masvidal, the inaugural winner of the belt, retired after losing four fights in a row against elite competitors such as Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns, and Kamaru Usman. However, in a recent interview, Masvidal hinted at his interest in fighting Gaethje for the belt.
Gaethje put aside any hope for Masvidal and firmly proclaimed his intention of fighting the winner of Charles Oliveira versus Islam Makhachev at UFC 294. The BMF champion further clarified that he views the former BMF champion as a heavyweight, as Masvidal put on considerable weight after retirement.
Justin Gaethje is now awaiting the result of UFC 294. He already fought Oliveira in a bout that saw him tap. Similarly, he lost to Islam Makhachev’s friend and mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, via a triangle choke.
