Ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor accepts Max Holloway’s rematch offer: “I’m never retiring so we defo fighting”

Max Holloway has recently revealed his desire for another fight with Conor McGregor. In response, Conor also offered his thoughts in Twitter on facing Blessed in a rematch.

On August 17, 2013, at the TD Garden in Boston, Conor took on Holloway for the first time. The fight was a preliminary matchup for UFC Fight Night 26, which featured Shogun vs. Sonnen as the main event. The Notorious and Blessed fought in the featherweight division that time for the three-round MMA bout, and McGregor won by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26).

How did Conor McGregor respond to Max Holloway’s offer for a rematch?

After more than ten years, there is still speculation of a rematch between the two former featherweight champions. Max stated he’d like to face Conor in a recent interview with the MMA Hour. Conor was informed about Max’s remarks, and the Irish superstar responded accordingly.

“I’m never retiring so we defo fighting, lad.” said Conor.

For the last two years, McGregor has been unable to compete in MMA due to a fatal leg injury. Nevertheless, McGregor will face Michael Chandler in the second half of this year when he returns to the octagon. Hence Conor’s old octagon opponents are looking for an opportunity to fight the former two-division champion.

What did Blessed earlier say about the rematch with The Irishman?

Now that Conor’s back in action, Holloway thinks that fans would go crazy for a rematch between him and Mystic Mac. It is unsure yet whether Conor will be back in lightweight or welterweight division but they fought in featherweight during their first encounter.

“I would love to fight Conor. I was the only guy that took Conor to a decision at 145, and he’s big right now, we’ll see what happens. There’s a lot of questions, a lot of unknowns, we’re just two different fighters from when we fought back then.” said Max.

A few years after their battle, the two legendary UFC fighters had the opportunity to wield the magnificent featherweight belt. While Conor went on to simultaneously win championships in two separate weight classes, Max turned into one of the featherweight division’s best fighters ever.
