Fans hilariously mock Rockets’ Dillon Brooks for “delusional” boast of being feared in NBA

One of the NBA’s most vocal individuals and a thorough conversation starter is Dillon Brooks. The point that the one-time 2nd-round pick has grown into one of the association’s most recognized wing defenders and earned second-team honors in 2023 can often get lost in all that hoopla.

Nonetheless, Dillon doesn’t appear to be bothered by the lack of respect. Brooks, who recently relocated to Houston, spoke with Kelly Iko of The Athletic and made a big claim regarding his reputation among NBA players.

Brooks’ remark on his NBA reputation

In 2022–2023, Dillon Brooks’ outstanding defense earned him a spot on the NBA’s All–Defensive second-team. After receiving that distinction, he signed a four-year, $86 million contract with the Rockets during the free-agent period. According to ‘Dillon the Villain,’  he believes that his defensive skills allow him to occupy his opponents’ minds without paying rent.

“I know every single night, guys are thinking about me. It’s in their mind before the game even starts,” stated Dillon. While he may not be a fan-favorite, Brooks’ defensive accomplishments didn’t go unnoticed by those around the league.

The 27-year-old will look to bring that same defensive intensity to the Rockets, having displayed it almost every night during his tenure with the Grizzlies. Even while he may not be a fan favorite, Brooks’ defensive prowess wasn’t overlooked by league observers. The 27-year-old, who demonstrated that defensive ferocity nearly every night while playing for the Grizzlies, will try to bring it to the Rockets.

Fans’ reaction following Dillon Brooks statement

Fans’ overall reaction to Dillon’s statement has been quite varied. Like a Twitter user taking a playful stab at someone who seemingly talks a big game but has not achieved any championship rings or made it to any of the finals.

Then, another user chimed in, highlighting Dillon Brooks and his unwavering confidence. “I mean, the guy must have some serious self-belief to stand out like that,” the fan acknowledged.

A not-so-big fan of the second-youngest player in the annals of NBA’s history to be anointed the NBA Defensive Player of the Year then stepped in with a single word: “Delusional.” short, sweet, and straight to the point.

One netizen reminds folks that Dillon was not only embarrassed by 37-year-old LeBron James but also promptly fired by their team.
