Real Madrid is widely considered one of the biggest clubs globally, known for its rich history and a legacy of having some of the world’s top strikers at the Santiago Bernabeu.
For the first time in their history, Real Madrid is without a number 9 in their squad after the departure of their star player Karim Benzema, who moved to Al-Ittihad following his historic Ballon d’Or win. The position remains unfilled, even though the club denies any rumors connecting them to Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid releases official announcement on Kylian Mbappe
The French superstar Kylian Mbappe is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, breaking countless records and leading his national team, France, to two consecutive FIFA World Cup finals in 2018 and 2022. Additionally, he has secured golden boots and back-to-back league titles for his club.
As previously reported, Real Madrid staff and players have revealed that the Frenchman will follow in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham in joining Los Blancos, and his arrival has been a hot topic of discussion in the dressing room. Kylian Mbappe’s contract with the French champions is set to expire next summer.
Moreover, previous reports also suggested Real Madrid were looking to pursue a pre-contract agreement with Kylian Mbappe following his refusal to extend his stay at PSG.
However, Real Madrid published an official statement, ending all preexisting rumors and reports about Kylian Mbappe being approached by the Spanish giants. No pre-contract agreement or talks have taken place between the club and the PSG forward.
Club statement: “In view of the information recently published by various media outlets regarding alleged negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappé and our club, Real Madrid C.F. would like to state that this information is categorically false and that no such negotiations have taken place with any player belonging to PSG.”
Real Madrid strikers underperforming this season
Real Madrid have signed Espanyol striker Joseulu on loan as a temporary goal-scoring solution to replace their star number 9, Karim Benzema, who moved to the Saudi Pro League. Joseulu is the only out-and-out striker in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this season. Also, the number 9 shirt has been vacant in hopes of bringing in a prolific striker in the upcoming season.
Real Madrid deployed Vinicius and Rodrigo in the striker position, which hasn’t been fruitful for the team so far. Moreover, Joseulu’s performance hasn’t been up to par as a striker. Surprisingly, their new midfielder sensation, Jude Bellingham, is the current club’s and league’s top scorer, clearly depicting the need for reinforcements in the striking department.
