JuJu Smith-Schuster joined the Patriots in March following his departure form the Kansas City Chiefs after only one season. The wide receiver has already been added to the team’s active roster, and just recently, he praised Mac Jones, his new team’s quarterback, in public.
In addition to his 933 receiving yards and three touchdowns for the Chiefs during the regular season, the WR additionally contributed to his former team winning a Super Bowl.
What did the new WR of the Patriots say in relation to the performance of Mac Jones?
According to Smith-Schusters, the 24-year-old has elevated his status with the passage of time, and on Tuesday, in his first interview with Patriots media members, he said that in his opinion, Jones has all the makings of a productive quarterback with regard to the new season, and the WR has the utmost faith in him.
“For Mac, the sky is the limit. I think with the guys that we have here and all of the weapons, it’s going to be a fun year,” said Smith-Schuster.

The Patriots are a team with exceptional talent overall, and Julu believes as with all of their combined good efforts, they can easily establish themselves as a formidable foe and assist their veteran quarterback in making the team a Super Bowl contender.
“Most definitely, most definitely. We definitely have enough,” he told. “We’ve got guys who can run down the field. We’ve got guys that can do a lot of different things. What’s crazy about this offense that I didn’t know about until I got here was that there’s guys that play both ways. There’s guys that can play receiver, that can play in the backfield, and seeing that you can have so many different weapons with these players, it just gives Mac these opportunities to do whatever he wants.”
The New England Patriots selected Mac in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 15th overall. The QBs’ excellent accuracy and concentration seemingly allowed him to break Jim Plunkett’s record of six victories from 1971 and become the highest-ranked rookie quarterback in Patriots history.
However, Jones once had a disappointing season in 2022. The Patriots stumbled to an 8-9 record the following season, and he finished the campaign with 2,997 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
This year will be a test for Smith-Schuster to establish his value to his new team and for MJ to live up to Julus’ high expectations for the quarterbacks’ performance.
