Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique picks Kylian Mbappe over Lionel Messi claiming PSG star the ‘best player in the world’

PSG appointed Luis Enrique with big ambitions to guide them to their first-ever Champions League triumph. In his illustrious managing career, he has managed names like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Xavi, Iniesta, and Suarez.

The Ex-Barcelona manager steered Blaugrana to the club’s second treble-winning season in 2015, and yet he picked Kylian Mbappe as the best over Messi.

Luis Enrique the new PSG boss believes Kylian Mbappe is the best player in the world. The French captain has been their best player since joining Paris Saint Germain from league rival AS Monaco in 2018.

Enrique managed his first Champions League game as PSG boss against Dortmund at Parc des Princes, on Tuesday. PSG secured a convincing 2-0 home win, with Kylian Mbappe converting a penalty in the 49th minute and Hakimi doubling their lead in the 58th minute, while the visitors failed to score.

Post-match Luis Enrique had nothing but all praise for the star forward following the home victory. In a statement, he said, “Kylian Mbappé is the best player in the world, trust me.”

He believes Mbappe is currently the best player, attributing this not only to his on-pitch ability but also to his leadership qualities in the dressing room.

“More than his technical skills, what has impressed me is his human quality. It’s a pleasure to have him in the dressing room — he’s a leader who always has a smile on his face”, he added further.

Despite managing Lionel Messi at Barcelona, Luis Enrique has opted for Kylian Mbappe as his choice for the current best player in the world, even as the star forward is rumored to be considering a move to Real Madrid.

In 2015, Luis Enrique received the award for the best club manager, after he led Barcelona to their second treble-winning season after a triumphant 3-1 victory over Juventus in the Champions League final.

Kylian Mbappe’s future uncertain with PSG’s contract expiring soon

It is no surprise that Real Madrid are eager to bring the 23-year-old to the Santiago Bernabeu next season, with reports suggesting that the club is prepared to make a pre-contract offer to secure Mbappe’s signature. It appears likely that the forward will join Real Madrid as a free agent.

Mbappe has now netted 29 goals in his last 22 Champions League matches.

Kylian Mbappe’s future in Paris remains uncertain as he has yet to sign a contract extension with the club, as his current contract expires in 2024. Will he stick with PSG with an extension or move to a new chapter? The future is uncertain for the PSG star.
