Former NBA player Delonte West arrested over vehicle trespassing incident

Former NBA athlete Delonte West is living an intemperate life and he got himself into many mischiefs over the years. Since his basketball career ended, West has been arrested multiple times. The former point guard had stints with the Boston Celtics, the Seattle SuperSonics, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Dallas Mavericks during his time in the NBA.

West was arrested earlier this month on four charges, including vehicle trespassing, fleeing from law enforcement, and being drunk in public. The police received a call at around 5:53 p.m. on Oct. 15 after witnesses reported seeing West trying to get inside a vehicle that didn’t belong to him.

The law enforcement found the 39-year-old in the 7400 block of Fordson Road where they say he was drunk and trespassing in a vehicle. As they tried to place the embattled Washington, D.C. native in handcuffs, he ran faster than Usain Bolt for his dear life.

Police said he was stopped a short distance away and taken into custody. He was eventually released from custody the following day. West was found behind bars before as well. In 2020, he was filmed being assaulted in a D.C. area street. He later went to a rehab center, but not long after he got out, he was arrested in Florida for being drunk in public.

Many people, including his former teammates and coach, have lent their support and expressed sympathy towards West following the incident. They have suggested that West should get mental health support instead of getting mocked.

Ex-Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant said, “I see a lot dumb comments where folks making fun of Delonte west. This is not a joking matter. I’m going to figure out how I can help him. He need to be in rehab or something.”

The Dallas Wings center Imani McGee-Stafford also asserted, “If you applauded Liz, Kevin Love, Demar Derozan, even me, for sharing mental health struggles then you have to extend that same energy to Delonte West in the midst of his struggles.”

Do you expect this former guard to be back on track anytime soon, or should he be deemed a lost cause? Let us know your thoughts on West in the comment section.
