The former NBA point guard Jason Williams, aka “White Chocolate,” was renowned for his incredible passing and flashy style of play. He became famous for his incredible no-look passes after being drafted seventh overall by the Sacramento Kings in 1998. Williams, however, sees his achievements in a way that many in the NBA world do not.
Over the course of his career, Jason amassed more than $55 million, yet he never stopped putting his family first. Despite his fame and career achievements, taking care of his grandmother brought him the most satisfaction, as he shared in a 2015 interview with SLAM Magazine.
Jason Williams denied that being a champion was his proudest accomplishment when questioned about it. He said, “Just getting drafted and being able to take care of my grandmother….I give my grandmother $400 a month, and she thinks it’s $4 million. Sh** like that makes me happier than anything.”
Jason Williams spent much of his successful NBA career witnessing Shaq O’Neal’s dominance. Despite his impressive run, he finds Shaq’s court domination to be more scary than sweet.
Jason Williams on Shaquille O’Neal’s NBA domination
In an intense altercation on January 12, 2002, Shaquille O’Neal nearly delivered a strike to the Bulls’ Brad Miller. Both players were given penalties, but as O’Neal’s old friend Jason Williams thinks Miller’s career could have ended with that punch.
On the “All The Smoke” podcast, Williams recalled telling his agent, “I was sitting next to Brad Miller last night, I told my agent, I said, ‘He’s so lucky that Shaq missed him when he played for the Bulls. He wouldn’t be there today.”
