The potential return of CM Punk to WWE has been a topic of much discussion, especially with this year’s Survivor Series taking place in Chicago. Wrestling enthusiasts have noticed hints regarding CM Punk, particularly during the feud between Shinsuke Nakamura and Seth Rollins, with Nakamura’s actions on Monday night connected to Punk.
This week’s episode of WWE RAW was jam-packed with important moments. Many spectators noticed that Shinsuke Nakamura had resorted to CM Punk’s GTS finisher at some point in the match. Seeing CM Punk’s finisher, ex-WWE wrestler Kenta took the cue.
Kenta reacts to Nakamura’s CM Punk reference
Recently, CM Punk is mentioned in WWE programming. During last week’s SmackDown Live!, announcer Corey Graves made reference to one of Punk’s memorable comments. On the latest edition of RAW, Shinsuke Nakamura used CM Punk’s signature move, the GTS, during a match against Ricochet. Additionally, former wrestler Kenta alluded to Punk’s potential WWE appearance by using his favorite move.
After Nakamura’s defeat at the hands of Seth Rollins, he has been up in a rivalry with Ricochet. Ricochet’s entrance was cut short as Shinsuke attacked him before the triple threat match to determine the Intercontinental Championship challenger. The “GTS” move is commonly linked with CM Punk. The King of Strong Style used it, which is unusual for him. This happened amid rumors of CM Punk considering a return to WWE.
On Thursday, after seeing this GTS clue, he joked on Twitter about a forthcoming survival series by posting a phony graphic under his account captioning, “See you at Survivor series lol.”
CM Punk provides cryptic WWE return hint
After an incident with Jack Perry backstage, CM Punk, well-known for his turning heel, was recently expelled from AEW. A month has passed after his release, and speculation regarding his disappearance continues. Punk just added to the mystery by posting a puzzling statement on his Instagram story.
Punk wrote a cryptic message that simply said, “We will meet again,” alluding to a future, meaningful encounter. Twitter users quickly jumped to the conclusion that the mysterious phrase hinted at CM Punk’s upcoming return to WWE.
Wrestlers sometimes have non-compete agreements in their contracts that restrict them from working for rival organizations for 30–90 days after their release. However, this provision may become null and void upon the expiration of their contract, similar to what happened with Edge. Punk’s message may serve as a gentle reminder of these limitations, although the specific duration is not mentioned.
