Former Raptors’ Free Agent Returns To NBA With Lakers After Health Recovery

The Los Angeles Lakers have received a boost to their frontcourt with the addition of the ex-Raptors’ seven-foot center. The young star, who missed significant time due to health concerns, has been cleared to play now and is back in action for the purple and gold.

Christian Koloko, a promising second-round pick from the 2022 NBA Draft, faced a major setback in early 2024 due to a serious blood clot issue. This health scare put his NBA career on hold as he awaited clearance from the league’s Fitness-to-Play Panel.

Although it’s unclear if he has received the necessary clearance, Shams Charania from The Athletic reports that Koloko has signed with the Lakers. Although he may have little experience in the NBA, the Lakers still see him as a low-risk, high-reward signing.

Once medically cleared, the 24-year-old will join the Lakers’ rotation, with the potential to make an impact on both offense and defense.

Lakers fans react to the new signing

Following Christian Koloko’s signing with the team, excitement levels among supporters increased tremendously. Since the beginning, the team had been struggling to sign a free agent this offseason, so this news is a big win. While details about Koloko’s contract aren’t fully out yet, many fans are thrilled to see him on the roster.
