Jon Moxley is having the best run of his AEW career, especially after defeating AEW’s top champion, Bryan Danielson. However, it wasn’t just a match that saw a title change—it marked the end of Danielson’s wrestling career.
While some fans felt the storyline was a tough choice, former WWE star Matt Hardy believes Jon Moxley was the perfect person to retire Bryan Danielson.
On a recent episode of his “Extreme Life” podcast, Matt Hardy explained why Jon Moxley was the right choice to be the one to end Bryan Danielson’s career. Hardy discussed Moxley’s invasion storyline in AEW and how it culminated in Danielson’s retirement after their match at WrestleDream
He said, “I think Jon Moxley is probably the most secure choice, especially for the one to end Bryan Danielson’s career and to carry the title right now. And as far as that invasion story, when they’re part of AEW? I don’t know, it’s tricky. It becomes tricky, and sometimes it can be confusing in some ways.”
Hardy added, “It all depends on their execution and how they follow through with this. And it’s going to depend if they have some sort of creative way to navigate this story, to get into some sort of scenario where you can get a finish that is going to be a good payoff for everyone watching.”
Fans trolling Jon Moxley with Roman Reigns comment
During a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley had an awkward moment when a fan yelled, “Go back to Roman!” during his promo. The comment, which referenced Moxley’s time in WWE with Roman Reigns, caught the attention of the otherwise silent crowd.
The comment quickly went viral, sparking a lot of talk online. Some fans saw it as a dig at Moxley’s struggle to fully establish himself in AEW, while others felt it reflected broader issues in wrestling.
