Even if you are not a football fan, there is a chance that you have heard of David Beckham. The English footballer, who is renowned for making an extravagant purchase with his first paycheck, was a part of England’s national football team and also played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and PSG, before retiring in 2013.
David Beckham found the love of his life, Victoria Beckham, in 1997 when the latter came to watch one of his matches. The two started dating and finally tied the knot on July 4, 1999. Beckham’s friend Gary Neville was also present at the wedding, and he made a joke, making fun of Bundesliga club Bayern Munich.

David Beckham and Gary Neville became good friends at Manchester United. The two players had a chemistry that caused them to enjoy each other’s company. Gary Neville remembers the time he was the best man at Beckham’s wedding, calling it one of the scariest days of his life: “Being the best at David Beckham’s wedding was one of the scariest days of my life.” The player remembers being nervous about performing in front of so many entertainers: “I had to speak for 15 minutes in a room full of famous performers and try to be funny. I’m no standup comic, so it was hard work, but I think it went OK.”
The English right-back made a joke about Bayern Munich losing the Bundesliga title, saying: “The rest of the Spice Girls wanted to invite the entire Bayern Munich team because they reckoned they’d never known blokes to be on top for 90 minutes and still come second.”
Beckham and Gary Neville’s friendship
Gary Nevile retired in 2011, and David Beckham followed soon after hanging up his boots in 2013. It has been more than a decade, but the two players are still best friends. Their friendship is clearly visible on social media. David Beckham also appeared on Gary’s podcast, Stick to Football.
Neville was present at the launch event of the English Hall of Famer’s Netflix documentary titled Beckham on October 3rd. The duo is also reported to be producing another Amazon Prime documentary about their former club’s remarkable 1998–99 season when the Red Devils won the treble. It will be created by David’s production company, Studio 99, and Gary’s Buzz16 production company.
Beckham’s and Neville’s friendship is one of a kind and the duo has immense love and respect for each other.
