From this week onwards, the New York Giants are holding compulsory minicamp and the players will face fines if they fail to attend the organized activities. However, Running Back Saquon Barkley has already expressed his opinion that he will have a no-show in the camp because of his ongoing contract issues with the team.
It is not common for players to act in such a hostile manner against their teams. So, it is time to find out more about the story regarding the stressful moments between the Giants and Barkley.
Saquon Barkley contract details
In his entry season, the footballer received a four-year $ 31,194,751 contract from the Giants. The deal comes along with a signing bonus of $20,767,092 and a guaranteed amount of $31,194,751. Saquon earned an average salary of $7,798,688 while making $10,091,000 as a base salary.
Moreover, upon the completion of the rookie contract, the team leveled him with a franchise tag contract worth $10,091,000 for one year which is yet to be accepted by the RB.
Will Saquan Barkley sit out the next season if no deal is made?
The 2018 NFL draft was selected by the New York Giants as the round one, second overall pick. Upon his selection, he entered into a four-year deal with the team, and at the end of the tenure of the contract, he received a franchise tag from the team.
Giants’ franchise RB Saquon Barkley confirmed after the Saquon Barkley Youth Football Camp in Jersey City, NJ today that he will not be at his team’s mandatory minicamp this week. Barkley still has not signed his franchise tender.

However, Saquon is yet to sign the offer provided by his team. He had an amazing lead in the previous season with the Giants when he scored his career-high 1,312 yards along with 10 touchdowns. So, he seems to be eagerly waiting for a long-term contract offer from the team.
If his team doesn’t offer him a long-term contract keeping in mind the young player’s contribution by July 17, Barkley is most likely to sit out for the next season. Although he hasn’t spoken up about what actions he will take if the contract doesn’t happen, he is probably having some thoughts about sitting out.
The former Pen State player has exhibited his concerns over business issues like a pro and he is ready to say no to any offer which underrates his value.
