Warriors’ Surprising Interest in Miami Heat’s Star Shakes Up the NBA

The Golden State Warriors are looking for a good backup scorer before their first preseason game on October 6 against the Clippers. They missed out on getting stars like Paul George and Lauri Markkanen, so now they are interested in Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat.

In the wake of Klay Thompson’s departure, reports have circulated that Warriors owner Joe Lacob is ready to pair Stephen Curry with Butler. They are watching Butler because he has been a key player for the Heat since 2019.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the Warriors made a few inquiries about Butler’s availability this summer. On the recent of the TK show, he said, “Jimmy Butler is going to be a free agent next summer. Didn’t get an extension done. The Warriors, as you know, have interest there and I think probably made a couple calls during the summer. That name comes to mind.”

Jimmy Butler may be the ideal replacement for Klay Thompson now that he has left the Warriors. The team hopes Butler will help them stay competitive, especially as Steph Curry’s golden years are winding down.
