George Foreman, the legendary heavyweight boxing champ who rose to global fame back in 1968, has sadly passed away at 76.
Now, the boxing world is mourning his loss as the boxing legend passed away on March 21, 2025. Following his death, his family posted a message on Instagram, expressing their deep sorrow.
It was captioned, “Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.”
The post added, “A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”
George Foreman had one of the greatest comeback stories in sports. He won the heavyweight boxing title again at age 45 and became famous for promoting. He first became a heavyweight champion in 1973 by knocking out Joe Frazier in the second round.
After successfully defending his championship twice, he lost it in one of his most well-known bouts, the “Rumble in the Jungle” in 1974, against Muhammad Ali. After retiring in 1977, Foreman made a massive comeback ten years later. In 1994, he became the oldest heavyweight champion ever at age 45 when he defeated Michael Moorer to win the title again.
