Heavyweight boxing champion, “The Gypsy King” Tyson Fury has given an honest insight that he is still training according to his trainer to keep his fitness and mental health up. This comes after reports that the coveted champion will soon be hanging up his gloves for good.
The last hiatus Tyson Fury took from boxing almost ended his boxing career altogether. After earning all the heavyweight titles from Wladimir Klitschko, Fury fell into a deep depression and at one point started binge drinking and taking drugs. He blew up to a weight of 28 stone or 177 kilograms during that time. Fury also wanted to commit suicide back then! But his life and career were revitalized by the efforts of John Fury and his promoter, Frank Warren.
It seems that Tyson is determined not to slip up again and lose his fitness! He said in his Instagram story “Yes, training daily but just to keep my weight down & for my mental health”, he also added that he was training as his trainer was telling him to train.
Tyson’s inclusion of “but just to keep my weight down” implies that he is not training anymore to be fighting anyone or be in boxing shape, but rather just to maintain his fitness and not let it slip like in the past! But despite his training, Tyson is showing signs of relapsing into his old self! Recently he kicked a taxi cab in an intoxicated state while visiting Paris with his friends and family.
As long as Tyson keeps training as his coaches tell him, there is always a possibility of the heavyweight returning to the ring!
