The term appropriate enough to coin the fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski is a ‘Battle for the Ages’. There are so much hype, so many questions, so much glory, such high potential, and such high tensions yet, the UFC president Dana White doesn’t seem very interested in promoting the fight according to the lightweight king.
Makhachev announced his displeasure saying, “I see that it is not such big promotion. Dana White himself has some problems; he does not pay much attention to this fight. In terms of pay-per-view, yes, more could have been done. I only saw Volkanovski once, in Sydney. A tour could be organized around the world, a conference could be held in America.”

Why is Dana not promoting Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski?
Anyone keeping up with the MMA world probably can guess a few reasons why Dana could be less focused on this matchup. On the first day of the new year, White was caught on camera getting into slap fight with his wife. While both he and his wife released their statements and tried to settle the matter, the internet won’t let them rest.
After this, Dana started his very own Power Slap League which was also very controversial for a number of reasons. Many fans didn’t take very kindly to the concept of an able-bodied person hitting his opponent with the full force of his body while the opponent had no option to defend the upcoming onslaught.
By this point, the UFC head honcho was back to his former characteristics and got into back and forth against commenters in his posts. Of course, someone involved in so much war on so many fronts will not find a lot of time to promote his fights no matter how important they are.
UFC 284 is scheduled for February 12 in Perth.
