”He’s a fraud, fat, insecure boy”: David Morrell fires at David Benavidez in official statement amid dispute over fight terms agreement

Many boxing fans were caught off guard at the news of negotiations between David Morrell and David Benavidez about an upcoming super middleweight bout in November. Benavidez, however, came under fire from Morrell for not showing any interest in fighting him and choosing someone else instead.

As Canelo Alvarez is busy taking on big challenges, it was probably the perfect opportunity for Morrell and Benavidez to come to a decision. They were even ‘reportedly’ closing a deal to a  Showtime pay-per-view boxing bout in October or possibly in November.

David Morrell slams David Benavidez for ducking their fight

There’s a new twist to what has already been discussed. Benavidez is now considering Morrell as an alternative or as a backup option.

Morrell clearly didn’t like the idea of being a backup. He slammed the American boxer by calling him a coward, insecure, and a fraud.

“David Benavidez is a big bitch. His dad is a big fraud always talking like he’s some tough guy but he’s just a small man with little man complex.” Morrell said.

The undefeated Cuban boxer doesn’t think Benavidez is worthy to be called ‘The Mexican Monster’. According to the WBA super middleweight title holder, Benavidez couldn’t walk down any street in Cuba without getting his shoes taken and now that he’s showing interest in Canelo is a surprise.

David Benavidez denies fight agreement with David Morrell, wants Jaime Munguia next

Benavidez, the undefeated boxer, won all 27 bouts in his professional boxing career. Last year he defeated David Lemieux via third-round TKO to claim the vacant WBC super middleweight title.

“El Bandera Roja” is now aiming high as he has his sights set on Jaime Manguia. Benavidez said Jaime seems to be their first choice as he is up to 168. If they can’t get Manguia, then they’ll probably go for Morrell.

David and his team are also quite keen to present Canelo Alvarez with a rich deal as the Mexican side has not yet signed any contracts for their upcoming boxing bout.

A $50 million offer was made to Alvarez by the Benavidez camp. David’s father also recently discussed their thoughts on challenging Canelo for his undisputed super middleweight titles.
