Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko clashed against each other in front of a packed MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. This twelve-round fight went to the distance and it is needless to say that it delivered to the expectations of the fans.

It was a razor-close fight as both the boxers had their moments and dominated in certain areas of the fight. In the end, it was Devin Haney who came out on top as all three judges scored the contest 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 in favor of him.

After edging past Vasyl Lomachenko in what was a twelve-round war, Devin Haney revealed how he defeated the Ukrainian boxer in the post-fight interview. The undisputed champion who was in high spirits said that his gameplan was to attack Loma’s body. He also claimed that Vasyl Lomachenko was uncomfortable due to this tactic.
Later in the interview, Haney credited Lomachenko’s performance and also confessed that the Ukrainian was the hardest test in his entire boxing career. “Man, Lomachenko is a future Hall of Famer. It was a blessing. He’s my toughest opponent by far, he’s very crafty and we put on a great fight for the fans.
Thereafter the interviewer asked Devin how Loma troubled him in the championship rounds. “Oh I mean he is a crafty fighter. He turns it up in the championship rounds. And I just take my hat off, he is a great fighter,” said the undisputed champion after retaining his belts.
Was Lomachenko robbed of a win against Haney?
A lot of fans and fighters on social media were shocked after hearing all three judges score the contest in favor of Devin Haney. Because they felt that Vasyl Lomachenko had done enough to win the fight. The most surprising thing in this matchup was judge Dave Moretti scoring the tenth round 10-9 in favor of Haney.
In that round, Loma was the dominant fighter and he outstriked Devin 20-2. Speaking about the rest of the fight, Haney started the first few rounds very well as he attacked the Ukrainian boxer’s body and landed some good jabs. However, in the middle rounds, both fighters were exchanging a good amount of shots.
Going into the championship rounds, the undisputed champion had the edge due to his good work in the early rounds. But Loma finished the fight very strong as he hurt Devin Haney with quick combinations.
