After refuting his involvement in a remarkable boxing event, Tyson Fury was met with an explicit retort from Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter.
Alex Krassyuk, the promoter of Oleksandr, has taken a jab at Tyson once again stating, “He’s s***ing his pants again.” This comes after the WBC heavyweight champion dismissed talks of a potential December boxing extravaganza.
Fury and Oleksandr had previously engaged in talks for an undisputed fight but were unable to agree. Usyk’s team withdrew from negotiations due to their dissatisfaction with Fury’s demands.
Krassyuk held Fury solely responsible for obstructing the fight. Alleging that Fury created too many hurdles, resulting in the fight falling through.
On Monday, promoter Eddie Hearn and Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott disclosed that discussions had resumed for Tyson and Oleksandr to finally cross paths.
They revealed the possibility of a double-header event in the Middle East later this year, which would feature Tyson and Usyk fighting on the same card as Anthony Joshua and Wilder.
The revelation sparked excitement among fans, but Tyson promptly refuted the claim on Instagram, posting to his story, “I can confirm that these rumors are completely false!”
Tyson Fury gets into an altercation with Usyk’s promoter
Krassyuk appeared to suggest that Fury was not telling the truth and was avoiding the fight. He insinuated that Tyson was scared and wrote on his Instagram, “He’s once again terrified.”
As of 2023, Tyson and Oleksandr have not yet fought this year, and neither of them has disclosed their next bout. Fury’s last fight was in December at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he defeated Derek Chisora.
Following the unsuccessful negotiations with Usyk, Fury is on the hunt for his next adversary. And potential options include Andy Ruiz Jr and Zhilei Zhang for the undefeated champion.
In the meantime, Oleksandr is anticipated to make a comeback in the latter part of the summer. And may have another bout in the UK after being directed to take on WBA mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois.
Usyk has already secured victories three times on British territory in his professional career. Defeating Tony Bellew, Derek Chisora, and Anthony Joshua.
If the boxing event in the Middle East occurs at the end of the year, it would be a significant moment for the sport. The four boxers are generally considered the top heavyweights globally. Would be competing against each other on the same card.
Hearn has asserted that it would be a highly profitable opportunity for all four fighters. As the event has the potential to generate as much as £325m in revenue.
