Chelsea are infamous for their two crazy transfer windows when they signed a whopping 17 first-team players in 12 months under new ownership led by Todd Boehly. This, came with serious consequences, with the failure to move on some players last January. The Blues were left with a bloated squad with very less to show for in their last season.
Chelsea have rarely lacked a good structure. Under former owner Roman Abramovich, they won many trophies, including two Champions League titles and five Premier League titles. They gave the other English clubs a run for their money, and this was achievable by smart recruitment since Mourinho’s arrival here.
Those smart transfers quickly became a thing of the past under Todd Boehly. He sanctioned high-profile transfers for Enzo Fernandez, Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, and Mykailo Mudryk.
How Many Players Have Left Chelsea Till Now?
New manager Mauricio Pochettino is having one of the busiest transfer windows of his career right now. With an oversized squad, one of his earlier tasks as the new manager was identifying the players that should be shown the door.
Luckily for Chelsea, they’ve received bids everywhere for their players. Most notably from Saudi Arabia, where the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy, N’golo Kante, and Kalidou Koulibaly have been shipped to. Kai Havertz’s Arsenal move is also nearing completion after a deal of £70 million was agreed Arteta’s underdogs last week.
Matteo Kovacic has already been unveiled at the Etihad. He joined the treble winners for a reported £25 million fee. Mason Mount also draws steady interest from Red Devils, with the latest being at £55 million.
Christian Pulisic may also be well on his way out of the club. French club Lyon reportedly contacted Chelsea over a possible transfer for the USMNT captain. AC Milan have also registered an interest in the American. One thing is almost certain – Christian Pulisic won’t be turning out for Chelsea come next season.
Chelsea have aced so far trying to recoup some the funds spent last year. With more outgoing transfers to be sanctioned, Chelsea remain one of the winners of this current transfer window.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek to AC Milan Transfer Details
After opening talks with Chelsea for Ruben Loftus-Cheek in May, AC Milan finally got their man for a reported fee of £15 million. The England international played a part in Chelsea’s 12th-place finish last season under three different managers – Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and Frank Lampard.
The player has seen limited game time in recent seasons due to several injuries and inconsistent performances. The 27-year-old is finally getting his wish to play regularly after moving to Milan. The Rosseneri have hit the jackpot with a player capable of playing in multiple positions.
