“I am deeply sorry” Kyrie Irving issues heartfelt apology following his suspension over anti-Semitic post

The Brooklyn Nets star, Kyrie Irving, has been in the headlines following a controversial social media post. It resulted in his suspension from the team for at least five games without pay for his “failure to disavow” anti-Semitism. It didn’t go well with his fans as well. Irving has received a tremendous amount of backlash ever since then.

He has denied facing the team in the media session to give an official statement regarding the issue, instead kept arguing that it was just a post about a random movie that he didn’t make. So he shouldn’t be held responsible for it, Irving implied. But things don’t work like that when you’re a world-renowned player whom people look up to.

The 30-year-old player has finally put his pride aside and released a statement seeking an apology from those whom he hurt. He recognized the fact that it might trigger a big portion of his admirers. Irving said on Instagram, “To All Jewish families and Communities that are hurt and affected from my post, I am deeply sorry to have caused you pain, and I apologize. I initially reacted out of emotion to being unjustly labeled Anti-Semitic, instead of focusing on the healing process of my Jewish Brothers and Sisters that were hurt from the hateful remarks made in the Documentary.”

The statement came just a few hours after the Nets suspended him. Do you think this is just a tactic to bounce back to the team? you are not alone if you do. The majority of the netizens deny taking this as a genuine apology from the player. Let us know your take on this issue in the comment section below!
