“I definitely am”: Eagles backup Devon Allen makes bold claim on fastest NFL player, drops hot take on DK Metcalf and Tyreek Hill

The 5-foot-10 wide receiver Tyreek Hill will likely top almost every athlete’s list as one of the speediest players they have faced on the field due to his insane agility on the field. But the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devon Allen doesn’t agree with this notion and instead, claimed himself as the fastest player in the NFL.

The former Oregon Ducks standout didn’t hold back when discussing his abilities and weighed in on two other notable speedsters, singling out Seattle Seahawks DK Metcalf and Miami’s Tyreek as potential competitors.

Devon Allen’s views on the fastest NFL player

Allen headed to national football after catching the attention of Philly in Oregon’s Pro Day and signed with the team in the spring of 2022, albeit he had to spend the whole last season on the franchise’s practice squad. When asked by TMZ recently, the 3x track national champ claimed himself to be the fastest in the league with due respect to the Dolphins WR and Metcalf.

“I definitely am (the fastest in the NFL). I’m not gonna roast those guys, because what they did is impressive.”

The former high school cross-country rival of Hill said he raced the veteran star as well as heaped praise on Metcalf drawing the topic of his early performance,

“I raced Tyreek Hill when I was in high school, and he smoked me when we were in high school. And DK (Metcalf) running 10.3 (seconds in a 100-meter dash) a couple years ago is super impressive for a guy who’s 6-4, 225.”

Why does Devon Allen claim to be the faster player?

The U.S. Olympian earlier won the NCAA 110-meter hurdles championship in 2014 and also recently attended a USATF event in NYC where he clocked a 13.04, marking the record of being the fourth-fastest time in the world in this year. Hence, he thinks himself superior to Tyreek and DK in terms of top-level performance.

“But I think especially at the top level, top five, top 10 in the world, there’s a big gap in terms of just performance.”

The 28-year-old star recorded 41 catches for 684 yards and seven touchdowns, albeit he has yet to make a 53-man roster and he shared his 2022 experience with the Eagles,

“The first whirlwind for me was training camp, getting thrown into the fire, and realizing this isn’t college anymore. I played at the University of Oregon, which is high-level ball, but the NFL takes it the another level.”

The new NFL season is approaching fast and who truly deserves the title of the fastest player in the NFL could get proven in the near future, albeit the ongoing debate regarding the topic will continue to captivate many football enthusiasts worldwide.
