Jiri Prochazka returned from injury to face Alex Pereira at UFC 295. But Alex Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka with a vicious knockout blow. At UFC 300, Jiri bounced back from the previous loss and finished Aleksandr Rakic within two rounds.
Now Alex Pereira is also interested in making a quick turnaround from his 300 win to take part in UFC 301 in Brazil. UFC 301 is just two weeks away, but as both fighters suffered minimal damage at the T-Mobile Arena, it is possible they can compete in Brazil. Ultimately, the decision lies in the hands of Dana White and the matchmaking staff of the UFC.
“I was able to and am still able to take the fight in Brazil. I will see. Now it’s on the UFC… Let’s see if it will be necessary to fight someone else before the title fight. I will do that, but I think I deserve it,” said Jiri Prochazka in a recent interview.
The last time Pereira and Jiri faced off against each other, ‘Poatan’ knocked out ‘The Czech Samurai’. But Prochazka feels that referee Mark Goddard put an early stoppage on the intense fight, which cost him the interim light heavyweight title.
After his victory at UFC 300, Alex Pereira expressed his desire to fight at UFC 301 in Brazil. But ‘Poatan’ does not want to fight with Jiri, he wants to fight with a Brazilian lightweight fighter as the event will be hosted in Brazil.
Jiri Prochazka confident in ability to KO Alex Pereria
Jiri Prochazka is very confident that in a rematch against Alex Pereira, he will beat him and secure the UFC light heavyweight belt. Jiri is a former champion with an impeccable record in the UFC, but getting a title shot will not be easy.
“I believe I’m better [than Alex]. Until that one mistake, that fight was mine. I believe that I’m able to win that fight and win the belt,” Prochazka said while speaking about a potential rematch with Pereira.
Although Prochazka wants a rematch against Pereira for the UFC light heavyweight title, The Chez Samurai has kept the door open to a possible switch to middleweight. Following his dominant win over Rakic, Jiri revealed that he could compete at middleweight in the future.
Nonetheless, it would be interesting to witness what Jiri brings next in his UFC career. Will it be a title rematch with Alex Pereira or a switch in division? We will get to know eventually.
