Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has extended his contract with Arsenal until 2023, with the option for a further year.
The Egyptian international joined Arsenal from Swiss side FC Basel in 2016. Elneny has played more than 100 times for the club. His contract with the Gunners was going to run out this summer. With Arsenal planning a wide range of transfers in the upcoming window, it was expected that Mohamed Elneny would be amongst the exodus of players leaving the club. But those probabilities have been squashed as he has extend his contract until 2023.
Elneny, who also had a loan spell at Turkish side Besiktas, is delighted to have extended his contract with the Gunners. He said, “I love this club and I feel like part of this family”.

Elneny is not a regular starter for Arsenal, but rather a squad player. Even so, he is always putting his all on the pitch. Manager Mikel Arteta has also expressed his delight with having the Egyptian on board for another season, “Mo will be really important for us”.
With Arsenal participating in the Europa League next season, it is important for Arteta to have a host of players to choose from. Squad rotation is very vital when you’re participating in multiple competitions, and Gunners fans will be delighted to see that Arsenal have recognized that. The defensive midfielder will bring much needed experience in the middle of the park.
Elneny, who has 92 caps for the Egyptian national team, has 15 appearances in the league this season. He has failed to score a goal, although he has two assists.
