Najee Harris, the former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, didn’t hold back when talking about his time with the team.
Harris shared his thoughts in a recent interview after signing a one-year, $9.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. He seemed to take a slight shot at his old teammate, quarterback Justin Fields while talking about his challenges in Pittsburgh.
Harris, who played four seasons with the Steelers, said the team’s offense was not very stable or clear. “We just didn’t know anything on offense really,” Harris explained in the interview with KCAL News.
He added, “We didn’t have any identity. We had a young guy coming in at QB. I really didn’t have nobody to almost learn from on the offensive side.”

Harris also mentioned how he turned to defensive players for advice. “It was just the defensive guys, I go to the defensive guys to talk to but it wouldn’t be too much of they can tell me about the offensive thing you know,” he added.
Najee Harris reveals why his Steelers stint didn’t work
Najee Harris recently talked about the challenges he faced with the Steelers and why things didn’t work out. He said the offense under Matt Canada didn’t have a clear plan, especially during his first few years with the team.
Harris mentioned that there were no strong leadership or team-building moments in the locker room. He felt like the team was missing key ideas and guidance.
Many former Steeler players are coming out saying that Mike Tomlin had no urgency and lack of Offense knowledge to sustain a good Offense. Najee Harris could have been great in Pittsburgh but Tomlin felt he wasn't improving but he wasn't improving because of terrible coaching.

He added that the veteran players were still learning too, so he had to turn to the defense for advice.
Looking back, Harris believes he could have done more to improve his game, like working on his catching. However, he never reached the same level of efficiency he had in college at Alabama.
