Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather’s legendary boxing battle took place six years ago. A recent exchange of harsh words between the divisive combat sports duo may have just rekindled their animosity.
McGregor’s matchup with Mayweather generated a lot of buzz in the boxing world. Even though it was the Irishman’s one and only professional boxing fight, he has never ruled out returning to the ring.
What stoked Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather’s feud?
Conor, who is well known for his mocks, used the same approach with Floyd before their 2017 fight. In addition to accepting Conor’s jabs with a smile, Pretty Boy also launched shots at the Irishman.
The two seem to be back at it now, six years after their ring rivalry ended. McGregor recently attempted to revive his animosity with ‘Money’ by claiming that he partied before his bout against the heavyweight superstar.
“I’m on the yachts partying lad, I smacked you more smacks than anyone had.” McGregor tweeted.

The Notorious vs. Pretty Boy boxing match in 2017 broke all previous financial records in terms of revenue. Sales of the bout, which cost 89.95 USD for standard viewers and 99.95 USD for HD viewers, were the second highest in PPV history.
Floyd and Conor’s fight wasn’t just successful financially but also it attracted tons of people toward boxing. Both combat sports personalities exchanged harsh jabs toward each other to ignite the fire between them.
Floyd may have retired but he is still actively participating in exhibition bouts. Hence there might still be a chance for them to go for a rematch in an exhibition bout.
