“I think I broke my rib”: Edmen Shahbazyan gets injured in devastating loss vs Anthony Hernandez at UFC Vegas 73

In tonight’s incredibly thrilling middleweight bout on UFC Fight Night, Edmen Shahbazyan and Anthony Hernandez squared off. Edmen, however, lost in a violent knockout that later led many to fear that he may have broken ribs.

The Anthony vs Edmen fight was the night’s co-main event at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada’s UFC Vegas 73 event, which featured MacKenzie Dern and Angela Hill in the event’s headliner. ‘Fluffy’ extended his winning streak to four by viciously knocking out Shahbazyan in the third round.

How did Edmen Shahbazyan got injured?

The Golden Boy and Anthony started the battle in a respectable manner. Both middleweight fighters got their fair share of opportunities in the first round, but things changed in the second. 

Hernandez’s tremendous grappling abilities allowed him to completely dominate the battle. Shahbazyan did not looked prepared at all for his Californian opponent’s takedowns in the octagon.

Fluffy attempted to take down Shahbazyan once more in the third round, but this time, he was unforgiving. Anthony threw his elbow on top of Edmen’s chest with all of his strength. The referee sped over to the area of contact and promptly declared a stoppage. 

What’s next for The Golden Boy and Fluffy? 

The Golden Boy has now lost four of his past five bouts. In 2022, he only faced Dalcha Lungiambula and lost. For the 25-year-old fighter, it is now imperative that he return to winning ways under any circumstances.

Fluffy, on the other hand, is now having a fantastic run in his MMA career. The 29-year-old athlete not only increased his winning streak to four fights, but also created a window of opportunity for him to climb to the top 15 of the middleweight rankings.
