“I think when the fans see me, they’ll be surprised” Jon Jones teases his improved physique ahead of his highly anticipated heavyweight debut vs Ciryl Gane at UFC 285

Ending the anticipation of many fans, former light-heavyweight ‘champion’ Jon Jones is finally making a comeback at heavyweight against Cyril Gane in March. There has been a lot of curiosity and speculation among the fans concerning ‘Bones’ and he is promising to come with surprises.

This move up in weight class has been years in the making. Jones has fought so many times and has gotten into trouble on so many occasions during this period that many became skeptical of his return. But pictures of him putting on extra weight and doing adjusted training surfaced onine giving everyone some hope.

Jones spoke on this matter, “One of the hardest things was not being able to lose my shape while still trying to pack on 40 pounds. I think when the fans see me, they’ll be surprised that I still look a lot like I used to — [although] my shoulders are a lot broader, I freaking gained a whole bunch of ass, unfortunately — but just trying to keep that shape and doing it the right way”

He also talked about his next move, “I’ve got my sights on Stipe Miocic. I think it just means the most. There are a lot of guys out there, but for me, personally, for my legacy, defeating the greatest heavyweight of all time, just means the most to me. As far as how soon, hopefully, I get out of this fight with no serious injuries, I’d let to get [back] out there as soon as possible.”

What does a Jon Jones return, mean for the division?

Jon brings with him both glory and challenge. No one has really been able to beat the former champ though he has had questionable fights against Rakic and has a proven record of substance abuse. He is also the highest-paid heavyweight of all time so defeating or even fighting with him could warrant a huge payday.

Jones vs Gane takes place on March 4th.
