Darren Till made his UFC debut in 2015, and this is the first time the Liverpool-born fighter is struggling in the promotion. In his last six UFC appearances, Gorilla only managed to seal victory one time and lost to big names like Tyron Woodley, Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker, and more.
In his last bout, Till, 29 faced former EFC Welterweight Champion, Dricus du Plessis, in the main card event of UFC 282 at T-Mobile arena last Saturday. In the bout, the South African fighter secured a dominating third round submission victory over the English fighter, and the battle was awarded as the fight of the night.

Dana White, the UFC president, spoke about the fight at the UFC 282’s post fight press conference:
“I mean, that’s Fight of the Night, I don’t think his [Darren Till] stock drops at all. If he would have went out there and got destroyed in the first round like it looked like it was gonna happen, but he did the exact opposite. He weathered that storm, stayed out of submissions, then he comes back, and you think he’s gonna win the fight.”
Dana White is flattered by the fight and considers it one of the best wins for Du Plesis. He added:
“I thought it was an awesome fight. That’s why it was Fight of the Night, and I don’t think his stock dropped at all. And for Du Plessis, what an incredible win for him. I think that that slam at the end, I think that took the life out of Till. I mean, did you hear that when they hit the ground? That was brutal. I think that’s what ended the fight more than the choke.”
On the same day, the main card bout of Jan Błachowicz vs Magomed Ankalaev for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title resulted in a draw. On the other hand, Paddy Pimblett secured a controversial victory against Jared Gordon in the co-main event.
