Combat sports athletes making excuses for their losses is a practice almost as old as the sport itself. Overtraining, injury, and misjudging opponents are pretty commonplace. But losing a match due to ‘wet dreams’? Yes, you heard that right! ‘The Problem Child’ made this exact claim after his loss in the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury bout.
‘The Problem child’ was an open book on the ‘IMPAULSIVE’ podcast hosted by his brother Logan Paul. He addressed his match Vs Tommy Fury and opened up on the reasons he felt made him relinquish his unbeaten streak. His brother Logan Paul(Who was also a boxer) chimed in and shared his two cents on the fight as well.
What did Logan Paul have to say about Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury?
Logan was the first to reveal the story of the ‘wet dream’. He shared a story quoting his mom on how his brother Jake had a ‘wet dream’, and that too just the night before the fight. His mom’s glaring revelation took Logan back to his bout against KSI. He confessed that the same thing happened to him the night before the KSI fight.
Logan Paul felt the need to elucidate this topic as his reasoning may come off as ridiculous to some. He later added the reasons why it was a run-of-the-mill incident for athletes, especially those who compete in combat sports. Fighters usually abstain from physical activities which he coins as ‘building the batch’. Building up the testosterone in the fighter’s body is deemed quintessential before the fight night. And this might result in an unwarranted release during sleep time.
The brothers address this reason around the 20-minute mark in this video.
Was the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury match result decided even before it started?
Logan’s message resonated with his brother Jake Paul as this is what he felt happened to him who then chimed in on his brother’s clarification. Jake had been preparing himself for this fight with all his might so much so that he was even ready to sacrifice his carnal desires. Jake felt it necessary to stock up on his testosterone for the fight day. He was emotionally in a good place, thinking his tank was full and sealed, but the incident that night came as a heartbreak to him.
Jake Paul was left physically exhausted that night. But Jake felt the mental blowout of it to be more assertive on his psyche. He was disheartened to see all his efforts go down the drain. Two weeks of build-up already was making him weak in the knees. Seeing the leak in the tank, Jake felt that he just popped his balloons of hope.
The mental aspect of the incident, as outlandish of a claim as it may seem, sounds plausible. Fighters build every inch of themselves with blood, sweat, and tears; and in Jake Paul’s case with droplets of abstinence. Whatever the effects it may physically bear, the mental battle takes a massive hit to see it go in vain. Jake Paul, however, will look forward to his speculated rematch, and try to turn the odds in his favor.
