The Pittsburgh Steelers won their last match on Friday against the Cleveland Browns, and the NFL community witnessed a bizarre, insensible celebration by two Steelers defensive players.
What actually happened in that game?
Alex Highsmith of the Steelers sacked Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson during the fourth quarter in a spectacular way. Demarvin Leal, another defensive lineman on his team, quickly joined him in celebrating. Leal pretended to administer CPR while the linebacker was lying on the pitch.

Their celebration sparked a wave of controversy and criticism on social media. The Steelers linebacker, on the other hand, realized what he had done and apologized for their actions.
What did Alex Highsmith say in that apology?
“I just don’t want people to think of me that way and think I was doing anything intentionally. Because I would never, ever, ever, ever want to do that intentionally, and I never, ever would do that,” Alex said as an apology for their behavior during the game.
Their celebration comes just a week after Bills safety Darrin Hamlin collapsed on the field and was resuscitated by the paramedics administering CPR. It would be a different story for the whole sports industry if that CPR wasn’t done.
The fans are taking it as a mockery of the incident during the Bills vs. Bengals game. However, Highsmith claimed he was shocked, as was his entire family while watching the game live on TV and praying for Damar and his family.
Highsmith also defended himself by noting he and his wife are followers of Jesus Christ, and they believe that prayer has a divine power—the way God works. The 25-year-old didn’t plan the celebration, and while it was happening, he just carried on with his teammate.
Highsmith’s partner in crime, Leal, hasn’t said anything yet regarding their action.
Damar Hamlin is now at Buffalo General, going through several tests and improving gradually.
