The old friends are getting ready for a new rivalry as the Warriors face the Mavericks tomorrow. Former teammates Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson, who spent years together in the Warriors’ iconic white and gold jerseys, are now on opposite sides.
Klay begins a new chapter with the Mavericks, and while it might be tough for Warriors fans to see their “Splash Brother” on the other team, Draymond has made it clear he’ll show no mercy to his former teammate.
In a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, Green shared his intense plan for facing his former teammate, Klay Thompson. Following Stephen Curry’s description of the rivalry as a “war” with Klay, Draymond Green’s remarks have only intensified the intensity of their face-off.
The 34-year-old said, “I’m going to run through his chest when we play him now. I wasn’t going to, but now I’m going to run through his chest. Obviously, we all love Klay, but to love Klay is to also know that he’s going to come in there and try to murder us.”
We expected the upcoming Warriors vs. Mavericks game on Tuesday to be an emotional reunion for former teammates. However, Green’s comments suggest otherwise. And, before the game, Klay Thompson shares his thoughts on their relationship.
Klay Thompson reflects on his relationship with Steph & Draymond
Warriors fans are eager to see all three players back on the court, but Thompson is staying focused, treating the game like any other regular-season match. In a recent interview with Marc J. Spears, Thompson revealed that he hasn’t been in contact with Curry and Green since leaving the Warriors.

He said, “I’m locked-in. Not really. I will see them when I see them. That’s it.” Regarding tomorrow’s match, he stated, “That chapter is over. I’m in the midst of trying to win here. There is no point in missing anything when we have such a great opportunity here to be great. There’s no point in looking back… I got to look forward.”
