Gervonta Davis picked up a resounding win over his biggest rival Ryan Garcia last weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Tank knocked out Garcia in the seventh round and extended his undefeated record to 29-0. Davis was completely dominant throughout the fight and offered the 24-year-old lightweight no room for breathing space.
It is needless to say that this fight delivered all its expectations and was worth the hype. The build-up of this matchup was exciting as both the lightweight stars did everything possible to get into the minds of each other. Because Gervonta Davis received inside information from one of Garcia’s sparring partners.
The 24-year-old lightweight superstar also tried to mess with Tank before the fight. He sent his brother Sean Garcia to have a chat and trash talk with Gervonta Davis as he was gearing up backstage before his fight. Showtime Boxing released a video on their channel showing the behind-the-scenes of the Davis vs Garcia fight.
In one of the clips, they showed the interaction between Sean and Gervonta backstage. During this conversation, Tank made a fierce statement and warned Sean Garcia. “I’m a different type of beast. I’m gonna hit him so hard you gonna feel it.”
Gervonta Davis was very confident about his skills and power throughout the build-up of the fight and subsequently, he finished Garcia. With that being said, this fight was a spectacle and this might not be the end of their rivalry. Because both boxers will move up to 140 at one stage and they can cross paths once again if they keep on racking up wins.
What’s next for Gervonta Davis after his knockout win over Ryan Garcia?
After knocking out Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis has proved to everyone that he is undoubtedly one of the best boxers in the lightweight division. This win opens a lot of big fights for Tank. It would be fascinating to see who he fights next. Every single fan wants to see Davis take on another big name like Shakur Stevenson or undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.
However, the American lightweight didn’t seem interested in calling out Haney after his win. But things could change if Devin Haney defends his title against Vasyl Lomachenko. Speaking about Stevenson, many fans believe that he needs to defeat a few other lightweights before stepping up and challenging Davis.
