Newcastle appears to be causing some frustration for Manchester United currently, as they are reportedly considering players from United’s transfer shortlist after securing their third consecutive victory against them. Unlike Newcastle, Manchester United is currently in danger of being eliminated from the Champions League, and their Premier League standings are nothing to boast about either. As a result, they would prefer not to engage in a bidding war.
Manchester United have been very poor this season and have set all kinds of unwanted records. As they hope to reinforce in the winter transfer window in January, they have a lot of positions to look at. From a goalkeeper to an attacker, it seems like the Red Devils need to strengthen all areas of the field at this moment.
Newcastle United show concrete interest on Manchester United target
Newcastle, who have been pushed back by a lot of injuries this season, look to strengthen the team by reinforcing in the January window. They have now set their eyes on Manchester United target Serhou Guirassy, who currently has 16 goals this season in the Bundesliga, just two behind Harry Kane.
Serhou Guirassy is a target for a lot of clubs, as he is available for only €17.5 million due to his release clause put in place in the summer. However, it is believed that Manchester United and Newcastle are the current frontrunners in the race to sign the Stuttgart striker.
The 27-year-old is expected to be a great addition to any team he chooses, as Guirassy has been incredibly effective in scoring goals this season. The Guinean has scored a total of 17 goals this season for both his club and country. Additionally, he has an impressive record of 27 goals in his last 43 Bundesliga matches.
Manchester United reportedly handed rejection by Unai Simon
The transfer speculations and negotiations are not at all going United’s way, as reports have now come about Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon rejecting a transfer opportunity to the Red Devils.
Andre Onana’s dip in form this season, coupled with his upcoming absence for the AFCON starting in January, has left Manchester United in need of a goalkeeper and feeling a sense of urgency. However, there are reports suggesting that Unai Simon prefers to remain at Athletic Bilbao rather than pursuing a transfer to the Theatre of Dreams. Athletic Bilbao continues to hold a special place in Simon’s heart, and he has no plans to depart, even though there is interest from Man United and Bayern Munich.
Unai Simon is not the only Spanish goalkeeper United have been linked with, as there were rumors about getting David De Gea back in Old Trafford.
