Argentina and Juventus star forward Angel Di Maria is a top transfer target for MLS club Inter Miami. The David Beckham owned club is also interested in recruiting Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.
The former PSG winger left Paris for Turin on a free transfer the last summer. He signed a one year contract there and will be available on a free transfer again this summer unless Juventus convince him to sign a new deal.
While he struggled for the Old Lady in the first half of the season, he had an exceptional World Cup where he lifted the trophy even scoring a crucial goal in the final. He now has six goals in all competitions including a breathtaking hat trick against Nantes in the Europa League last Thursday.
Italian media outlet Football Italia reports that Inter Miami, an MLS club co-owned by David Beckham wants to bring the World Cup winning winger to their side. Manager Phil Neville is said to be wanting the player.
He would certainly bring a ton of experience with him, with six European league titles, a Champions League, Copa America, and of course the World Cup as part of his resume.
Di Maria is not the only one to be linked with the American side, with Phil Neville previously refusing to rule out the signing of Lionel Messi.
Speaking to The Times, he revealed that both Messi and Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets are potential transfers, “We want to bring the best players in the world to this football club,”
“Messi and Busquets are the two that stand out more in recent years. They’re great players who would still be a massive benefit to this organization. For MLS, it would be a game-changer. Since I joined Miami, I think we’ve been linked with every single top player in world football. From Sergio Ramos, Robert Lewandowski, Willian, Cesc Fàbregas, Luis Suarez . . . all of them you can rattle off.”

“I’m not going to deny (it and say)there isn’t truth in the speculation that we’re interested in Lionel Messi & Busquets. We want to bring the best players in the world to this football club.” 🇦🇷🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/BI7mwqLHLP
He added, “We’re always going to be linked with the best players in the world. We had Gonzalo Higuaín and Blaise Matuidi. Now we’ve got the opportunity to bring in some new designated players [who fall outside the league’s salary cap] following their retirements.”
Messi and Busquets are both out of contract in the summer and can leave for free. Messi is rumored to either come back to Barcelona or move to Inter Miami or Saudi Arabia, though he may also sign a new contract extension at PSG.
Busquets is also rumored to want to experience living in Miami while Barcelona is working to convince him to stay for one more season. The next summer will show us whether Inter Miami manages to get all three superstars which will definitely boost them both on and off the pitch.
Inter Miami will begin its MLS campaign against Montreal on Saturday night.
