Is Antony going to play in the UCL against Galatasaray? Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag provides update amid alleged domestic abuse case

Manchester United are not having the best season in their history. The Premier League club cannot perform well in the league and also lost their first UCL match of the 2023 season. Things might change now as Antony has returned to join his team and get back on the field.

Manager Erik Ten Hag has given an update about the player’s situation and whether or not he will be making an appearance in Manchester United’s second UCL match on Wednesday.

Is Antony playing at UCL this week?

Manchester United had their first UCl Group Stage match on September 21, going toe to toe with German giants Bayern Munich. The English club faced a 4-3 defeat, which put them at the bottom of their group. The Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League last season and have an opportunity to redeem themselves this year. Though they lost their first match, United may taste victory against Galatasaray on October 4.

Antony returned from Brazil and started training with his team on Saturday. After being on break for a month, the winger is ready to get on the field and help his team. Erik Ten Hag has confirmed that the 23-year-old could make an appearance in their next match.

“We have a final training session, and then we make a decision, but he will be in consideration, yeah,” said Ten Hag.

Latest on Antony’s domestic abuse case

Antony is having a tough time as the player has several cases of abuse and assault filed against him. He was accused of inflicting physical violence by not one, not two, but three different women. The charges first surfaced in June, when his girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, claimed she suffered violence from Antony’s hands.

Another two women, namely Ingrid Lana and Rayssa de Freitas, also accused the Brazilian international of the same. Though the latter has now withdrawn her complaint, the case did affect Antony’s image

The Manchester United winger was in Brazil to follow up with the case, but he has now returned to England. He met with Greater Manchester Police for some questions related to the allegations. The case is still not closed, and everyone is waiting to hear from the court, but Antony is continuously claiming to be innocent.

Manchester United will definitely be at an advantage with Antony by their side, but we are yet to see if he steps on the field against Galatasaray or not.
