The former San Francisco 49ers player, Trey Lance who only contributed to the franchise for two seasons, was abruptly traded to the Dallas Cowboys who wanted to bolster their QB room. The player had only taken part in preseason contests and hoped to capture the backup quarterback position.
However, fans have been curious about Dallas Cowboys’ veteran quarterback, Dak Prescott’s stance on the trade.
Is Trey Lance going to replace Dak Prescott?
Despite having a career-high number of interceptions in 2022, Prescott continues to be the focal point of the team’s quarterback room.
Prescott showed some optimism about the team’s preference to sign the former first-round choice when speaking with ESPN’s Todd Archer. He said, “I mean obviously understand it’s a business”.
The team’s decision to bring Lance into the picture demonstrates a proactive commitment to roster’s improvement while maintaining confidence in Prescott’s position. His addition to the Cowboys strengthens the team’s versatility and talent pool in line with the long-term objectives as reflected from fans’ faith in Trey Lance.
It’s imperative to render that this move doesn’t make the Cowboys less confident in Dak Prescott. Despite the possibility that Lance’s presence would lead to assumptions as he never received any heads-up from Jerry Jones, but he also expressed that he wasn’t expecting any either.
Prescott also remarked, “That’s a first-round talent and you’re always trying to make your team better. But that was the front office so we’re going to welcome him as we do any teammate and hopefully, he just makes us better and we’re going to continue to get back at it and know that we’ve got one goal as a team.”
Hence, judging by the circumstances, Lance wasn’t necessarily traded to replace Prescott, but the move simply reflects investing strategically in a young quarterback who might profit from a fresh start.
Dak Prescott’s abysmal performance against 49ers
Th Dallas Cowboys crumbled to a humiliating 10-42 loss against the San Francisco 49ers in one of the most anticipated fixtures of Week 5. Prescott failed to make an impact and the Dallas-based team suffered on both sides of the ball.
Initially, it seemed that fans weren’t really settling well with his playing approach during the match. Dak Prescott has received tons of criticisms for the Cowboys’ loss and his lousy performance.
Prescott’s performance was abysmal with 14 of 24 passes completed for 153 yards, one score, and three interceptions. The Cowboys (3-2) can’t let those ideas enter their minds, even if they couldn’t defeat the 49ers, as they have an ambitious campaign ahead.
