However, Dern didn’t allow the outcome of her last fight to play any kind of role in this main event clash as she dominated Angela Hill from start to finish. Mackenzie was full of confidence as she picked apart Overkill and won the fight 49-43, 49-44 and 49-44 via unanimous decision. For this performance, both the strawweight contenders earned an extra $50k as a Fight of the Night bonus.
Mackenzie Dern brutally dominates Angela Hill at UFC Vegas 73
Until today’s performance, Mackenzie Dern was not considered to be a threat in the women’s strawweight division. However, the American fighter made a statement to the division by outclassing a tough opponent like Angela Hill. Dern started the fight aggressively and knocked down Overkill with a powerful combination of punches.
She almost submitted Hill in the first round as well after getting into a great position and locking in an arm bar. However, Angela Hill survived the submission attempt with the help of the bell. In the third round, Mackenzie took down Hill and started throwing a barrage of punches and it was a similar story in the latter rounds as Overkill had no answers in the striking exchanges.

During this interview, The Count also asked Dern who she wants to fight next. “Man, I don’t know. What’s Rose up to you know if she’s interested in fighting? I’d like to fight Rose,” said Dern. Later in the post-event press conference, Mackenzie Dern explained why it is important for her to fight Rose Namajunas next.
âDefinitely for sure to fight Rose is a priority of mine right now. I think it would be a great fight, a good main event, and a good test for both of us. So, when I see her training her jiu-jitsu, Iâm like itâs not gonna be an easy fight, but I think it could be a great fight for the public and for us.â
