Manchester United used to be one of the strongest clubs, not only in England but in the world. Sadly, the Red Devils are now having troubles maintaining their reputation, and Erik Ten Hag thinks Federico Chiesa might be the solution to end the club’s bad stint.
The Italian center forward currently plays for Juventus but might be interested in making a move to the Premier League. Ten Hag is looking for a replacement for Jadon Sancho since the two are not on good terms.
United target Federico Chiesa: report
Manchester United are having a poor start to the season. They have lost three of their six Premier League games and are in 9th place, which is way behind their local rivals Manchester City, who are at the top. Erik Ten Hag refuses to play Jadon Sancho after the two had an argument regarding the winger’s performance. Juventus striker Federico Chiesa is now on Ten Hag’s radar. Though he has Rasmus Hojlund and Wout Weghorst in his team, the 53-year-old is still looking to increase his attacking options.
Federico Chiesa might be interested in leaving Juventus as the club failed to qualify for the Champions League this season and is also banned from participating in any of the UEFA tournaments due to the scandal related to their past financial dealings. The Red Devils have a chance to bag the forward, but they must hurry as he is also attracting other clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Chiesa’s Juventus career
Federico Chiesa made a move to Juventus in October 2020 as a loan transfer from Fiorentina. The striker made his debut for the club on October 17, providing an assist to Alvaro Morata in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea. He scored his first goal for Juventus on December 2 in a UCL match against Dynamo Kyiv. Chiesa turned out to be an important player for the club; he helped Juventus end Milan’s unbeatable streak in 2021 by scoring a brace against them. He also helped the club lift the Coppa Italia trophy in 2021 by scoring a winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Atalanta.
The 25-year-old forward remained out of action for most of last year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in January 2022, only to come back ten months later in November. He has started off this season on a good note, scoring four goals in six games and helping his team acquire the third spot on the leaderboard.
Manchester United will have to be quick in making Federico Chiesa an offer, as a player like that will not be staying on the market for too long.
