The video was posted to social media by the former champion himself, while bragging about the incident. Nearly a year later, those videos have possibly played a role in his recent charges.

The altercation between Jackson and Shields began on Twitter with an argument over race and politics. The situation got worse last December when both fighters were training at the UFC PI in Las Vegas. Shields posted a video on his twitter account and bragged about the incident.

Jake Shields has been charged with misdemeanor battery, and there is currently a bench warrant out for his arrest. If Jake Shields is arrested and found guilty, he faces up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine. As of now, the former champion hasn’t commented on the legal matter.

Jake Shields claps back at Mike Jackson

In an interview to MMA Fighting, Mike Jackson revealed the charges against Shields. Jackson further went on to call Shields a “Piece of shit,” “He has a warrant out for his arrest because he’s a coward piece of shit. So he’s on the run essentially. He’s ducking and dodging the cops because they want to get him. The district attorney wants to get his ass real good. So that’s going to happen,” Jackson said in the interview.

The UFC veteran didn’t hold back while replying to Mike. Shields took to twitter to put his response out in the open. Shields tweeted that It’s worth going to jail for after learning about the charges and arrest warrant against him.

Shields further criticized Jackson by claiming that Jackson supported defunding the police, which involves reallocating funds from police departments to better-qualified social services and public health agencies. However, it’s worth noting that Jackson went to the police to file charges against Shields, indicating that he, too, relied on the police as a form of social service.
