The Buffalo Bills and their star running back, James Cook, find themselves at an impasse as contract extension talks remain stalled. With Cook entering the final year of his rookie contract, the situation has raised questions about his future with the team.
Reports from Ian Rapoport suggest that Cook is seeking a lucrative deal worth $15 million per year, a figure that the Bills are hesitant to meet due to salary cap constraints. As a result, they are not on good terms right now.
Because of this, the team has prioritized other extensions, leaving Cook’s negotiations on hold until after the 2025 NFL Draft. This new report came as a shock, given Cook’s impressive last season, where he recorded 1,009 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

I know the negotiations didn't go great but the Bills would still like to have him in the future..
As of right know they're not in a great place"@RapSheet #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/sWNcKMDbPp
Reflecting on the situation, Rapoport said on The Pat McAfee Show, “The James Cook situation in Buffalo isn’t great right now, but he will play for the Bills next year.
