Javonte Green injury update: Bulls forward set for knee surgery

Since first day of the year, Chicago Bulls forward Javonte Green has missed five games due to a knee injury. With his frequent visits to the white coats, the forward appears to have developed a taste.

Green injured his right knee during the first game of the year against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Prior to that incident, he had only been able to play three games after recovering from the same issue in December. It appears there’s still an underlying cause to his ailment.

What is the update on Javonte Green’s knee injury?

The 29-year-old Bull will undergo an arthroscopic debridement of his right knee tomorrow, according to an official announcement. The surgery will remove any damaged cartilage or tissues to reduce further pain and swelling.

The former LEB Plate champion will be reevaluated in two weeks after the procedure.

Though there is no fixed date for his return, we assume the recovery will take no more than a month after the reevaluation.

Javonte had to play only 16 minutes per game this season due to his repeated knee soreness, but he scored an average of 5.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in those 16 minutes.

The stat is not bad for a player coming off the bench, however, he was included in the starting lineup in place of Patrick Williams. He has appeared in 28 games so far this season.

Javonte Green went undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft and spent time in Spain, Italy, and Germany before rejoining the Boston Celtics in 2019. His impactful performance as a reserve landed him in Chicago in 2021. He has also appeared in five playoff games for the Chicago Bulls since then.
