Scoring a hat trick (3 goals in a match) is one of the most prestigious feats any soccer player in the world wants to accomplish. It requires immense skill and lethal finishing ability, something that can put the game beyond the opponent’s reach.
And scoring hattricks in consecutive games is something that is even more elite, and USMNT striker Jesus Ferreira has established his name in soccer history by becoming the first American player to do so.
FC Dallas forward scores hattrick for USMNT in second game running
Forward Jesus Ferreira made history for the United States men’s national team when he scored a hat trick in the first half against Trinidad and Tobago.
All six of the Gold Cup goals scored by the FC Dallas attacker came in 88 minutes, with the first three coming on Wednesday against St. Kitts and Nevis in St. Louis, as the United States rolled past Trinidad and Tobago 6-0 to win Group A on goal difference after finishing tied with Jamaica in points.

Ferreira joined Landon Donovan, the USMNT’s all-time leading scorer, as the only player in the team’s history to record three career hat tricks. Nobody else, from any country, has scored three goals in the Gold Cup more than once in their career.
An enthusiastic Ferreira spoke about his extraordinary accomplishment postgame: “I’m happy. I’m excited. Obviously, this is a team objective. I wouldn’t be able to score goals without my teammates putting me in situations where I can score goals.”
“So, from the beginning, we knew that this game was going to be intense. We have to bring the intensity, we have to be the team that can set the tempo, and I think we did that.”
Who has the most consecutive hattricks in soccer?
Ferreira could be the first US international player to make the prestigious list of players with consecutive hattricks; however, other players have achieved this feat. Many have extended the streak even beyond two.
Topping the list are three of the game’s most prolific goalscorers: Josef Bican, Stjepan Lucijanic, and Ahmed Rizwan, each having a streak of scoring a hat trick in five consecutive games.
Josef Bican scored 19 goals in the Bohemia and Moravia League between November 17, 1939, and March 19, 1940, including five hat tricks in a row, setting the record.
On 6 November 2016, NK Draice Dakovo’s Stjepan Lucijanic tied Josef Bican’s 1940 record of five consecutive hat-tricks with a 10-0 win over NK Zrinski Drenje in the Croatian seventh division. In those five games, Lucijanic found the back of the net 20 times.
Striker Ahmed Rizwan of Club Eagles tied the record as well in October 2018 by scoring hat tricks in five straight Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League games.
