Jey Uso, known as one of the best tag team wrestlers in WWE, became a top solo star after winning the Royal Rumble this year. Fans are now cheering for him as a successful solo star.
The chanting “You deserve it” on this week’s Raw was really an emotional moment. However, his journey wasn’t easy. His father, Rikishi, didn’t want him or his brothers to become wrestlers.
In recent years, The Bloodline family has grown a lot. Jimmy and Jey Uso, known as The Usos, are one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history. Solo Sikoa is becoming the leader of The Bloodline 2.0, and Thamiko Fatu is performing on the independent circuit.
But Jey shared something surprising in a recent interview. He revealed that his father, Rikishi, didn’t want him or his brothers to become wrestlers. On Daniel Cormier’s DC Check-In podcast, Jey said his parents warned him and his brothers against joining the wrestling world.
He said, “My parents didn’t want none of us to wrestle. They know what that lifestyle is like. They know the time, sacrifice away, being on the road is one of the hardest things like in this business, especially like back in that time. It was crazy.”
