As a respected combat sports enthusiast and renowned UFC commentator, Joe Rogan’s opinions hold immense weight in the fight world. With his extensive martial arts background and first-hand experience in the ring, his insights are highly valued. Rogan has more than often praised Jon Jones as one of the all-time greatest fighters of UFC during his tenure with them.
Jones recently made a triumphant return at UFC 285 in March after a three-year hiatus, defeating Ciryl Gane in the opening round to claim the title of UFC heavyweight champion. His dominant performance left fans and fighters alike in awe, solidifying his status as the MMA GOAT.
However, Rogan recently weighed in on a potential match-up that could truly test Jones’ greatness – a fight against the current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury – and he has a clear winner in mind.
Joe Rogan Unleashed: Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury – Who’s the Real Baddest Man on the Planet
Rogan got down with acclaimed comedian Andrew Schulz on a recent episode (#1960) of the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including Jones’ extraordinary abilities. Footage from the program surfaced on YouTube, in which Rogan asserted strongly that boxing icon Tyson Fury is not a genuine challenger for “Jonny Bones.”
“No one thinks that Tyson Fury can beat Jon Jones in a fight… No one thinks that” Rogan emphatically stated. He went on to say, “Tyson [himself] doesn’t think that. You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet? If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury were locked in a room, I’m putting all my chips on black.”
While Rogan acknowledges Fury’s prowess as a great boxer, he firmly believes that Fury wouldn’t stand a chance against Jones. “Tyson Fury is an amazing boxer. But he doesn’t have a f**king chance in hell of making it out of that room… Zero chance.”
Rogan’s UFC Opinions: With Jon Jones’ Heavyweight Dominance, Reignited the Jones vs. Fury Debate?
Interestingly, Rogan had actually predicted Jones’ future in the heavyweight division during a 2019 episode with vlogger C.T. Fletcher. He foresaw Jones moving up to the heavyweight division and cleaning out the light heavyweight division, a prediction that has now come true as Jones currently reigns as the UFC heavyweight champion.
Can Jones truly be considered unbeatable, even against a formidable opponent like Tyson Fury? Only time will tell, but Rogan’s unwavering confidence in Jones certainly makes for an intriguing discussion among fight fans.
